Change your Conversation!

The second pat of Loral Langemeier’s book, YES! Energy, is about changing the conversation. This involves shifting one’s perceptions and attitudes about, and engagement with, life.

Most people are having the wrong conversation with themselves – or conflicting conversations – or perhaps no conversation at all. We were brought up with certain models of the world, most of which do not serve now that we are adults, and yet we continue to operate from that paradigm that was built between the ages of birth and 6 years old.

One way you can tell what your conversations are is to ask yourself, What do you think “most people” do? Or what are your “rules” for life? Did you know that you can CHANGE THE RULES? This makes all the difference.

The Energy Equation

This week, I will be summarizing the five parts of Loral Langemeier’s book, “Yes! Energy.

Part 1 is an introduction to the Energy Equation. The Energy Equation is a result of the request of many of Loral’s colleagues, who wanted to know the secret of how she could get up again after getting knocked down. Do you ever feel like you don’t want to get up again? What is it that motivates you?

These last few years have not been easy for most everyone. And Loral had her challenges just like all of us. But she came back with a passion, and she is beating her drum of hope and excitement in a world full of frustration and fear. The tenth drive, also a forward drive, is The Drive for Consciousness.

Consciousness can be described as an awareness of one’s own self and one’s surroundings.

Activator #1 – Focus your consciousness. Be conscious of different states within yourself; your thoughts, your emotions, your behavior, others, your progress.

Activator #2 – Transcend Consciousness. Be conscious of the present moment. Be conscious of Love.

Activator #3 – Live in Wonder

Ask yourself:
1. If I were more aware and directive of my consciousness in life, my life would change in these ways….
2. To connect with a higher consciousness on a more regular basis, I could…
3. The things that inspire my wonder about the world and my place in it include…

Be Conscious.

And that concludes the Ten Human Drives. So, go live a CHARGED LIFE… Destiny calls. Be bold and ready yourself. It’s time to charge once again.

The ninth drive is the Drive for Contribution, also a forward drive.

We all want to know that we’ve given of ourselves and played a significant part in shaping the world around us. We want to make some kind of difference. But there is a difference between giving TO, and giving OF.

We are all unique, and by just being our best selves, we are significantly contributing to the world, whether we realize it or not. We are giving OF ourselves.

Activator #1 – Give OF Yourself (and give yourself credit while you’re at it.
Activator #2 – Give to Deeply Meaningful Contribution Experiences
Activator #3 – Mentor, Mentor, Mentor

Ask yourself:
1. I feel I contribute to the world around me by ….
2. A new and deeply meaningful giving experience I’d like to create is ….
3. Someone who could use my mentoring is …..

You DO matter. Be you and make a difference.

Creative Expression

The eighth drive is the Drive for Creative Expression, also a forward drive.

We are all unique beings. We all have something special to express in the world. When we give ourselves the gift of creative expression, we can share that uniqueness with others.

Activating your drive for creative expression is one of the fastest strategies for finding happiness and fulfillment.

Activator #1 – Amplify Creative Expression in All Areas of your Life

Activator #2 – Study People and Design
Activator #3 – Create More, Share More

Share the essence of who you are with the world.

Ask yourself:
1. To show more of me and express moyself more creatively at home and at work, I wil ….
2. To be more inspired by people and design in my life, I could start….
3. The next thing I’m going to physically create and share with the world will be….

Go ahead. Show the world your colors.

The seventh drive is the Drive for Challenge, also a forward drive.

Challenge is that which pushes you out of safety and causes you to rise to greater heights, pushes your limits, and engages you completely. Challenge stretches your efforts and abilities and INSPIRES you.

Do you take risks and go for what you really want?

Activator #1: Choose Fulfilling Challenges. Go for the ones that make you feel alive and fulfilled, not overwhelmed.

Activator #2 – Focus on the Journey and Don’t Fear Rejection
Activator #3 – Set Monthly Thirty-Day Challenges

If you want to feel better about life, you need to challenge yourself to be an active participant. Be part of the solution.

From the same book, The Charge, by Brendan Burchard, the next five drives are known as “forward” drives. Whereas the baseline drives get you to a place of feeling whole and comfortable, these forward drives shake you up and take you to your next level.

The first forward drive is the Drive for Change.

The drive for change stems from our biological call to grow and learn, and also from our conscious and continual desire for newness and excitement.

But change isn’t always easy. It’s HARD to get out of our comfort zone and do something new. So here are three activators to help you change what needs to be changed in your life and/or business.

Activator #1 – Make Change about the Gains, not the Losses.
Activator #2 – Get Clarity, Think Big, and Be Bold
Activator #3 – Make Real Choices (Do this, then that)

Ask yourself:
1. A major change I’ve been holding back from making in my life because of an expectation of loss, process, or outcome pain is…..
2. A clear and bold new change I could make in my life would be to…..
3. The this-that rules I can apply to this clear and bold new change would be…..

Embrace Change. It’s shaking up your world for the better.

The fifth human baseline drive is for CONNECTION.

The drive for connection – both casual and intimate – is so strong that sometimes, our desire to bond and belong outweighs almost every other desire – often even our desire for survival.

Good connections are like brain candy – we feel euphoric. These days, thanks to social media, we have a LOT of connections, but they tend to be more superficial.

How can we form better, deeper, and more empowering connections and relationships?

The activators to charge your drive of connection are
Define and design your ideal relationships
Practice Positive Projection
Find and cultivate Growth Friends

Remember, you deserve to have deep, caring, fully engaged relationships with those around you.

The fourth human baseline drive is for CARING.

The capacity to care and be cared for is a human strength. To strategically focus on being a better caregiver to everyone you meet, and to be a better care receiver by appreciating the caring thoughts and gestures of others, causes life to light up.

Activators to charge the drive for caring:

Care for Thyself

Be more vulnerable and allow others to care for you

Be more present, interested, and attentive to others

The happiest and highest performing people are extremely caring. Caring is a continual life practice, and if you want to feel alive again, care again.
