Balance

November 14, 2008

Today I am reminded of the importance of balance.

I woke up and went through my morning routine, including my daily meditation practice which includes a series of affirmations. I briefly checked emails while eating my low fat high protein breakfast, excited about the first item on today’s agenda which was my weekly Think and Grow Rich Master Mind group. I love that group and I look forward to it every week. We have been meeting together for almost a year now, and I ran a separate 12 week evening group last spring, so I have been through the book five times in the past year. It’s a wonderful way to read Nathaniel Hill’s classic, as we all bring different ideas and perspectives to the discussion, which helps to solidify the concepts for all of us.

Today, however, as I made ready to go out the door, I realized that I just wasn’t feeling very well. I felt tired, run-down, slight headache, and worse, a stomach ache that had been bothering me since yesterday. Normally, when I am not feeling well, I push myself anyway. But today, I knew I needed to rest. So I chose not to go.

This disrupted my day. I missed my 11:00 meeting, and still haven’t made it to the post office. And even as I resist the idea that something is stopping me from completing my intentions for the day, I know that a higher intention is coming into play here… the intention to be well, so I can do what I need to do more effectively.

How often do we cripple ourselves by not maintaining a good balance in our lives? Do we pay attention to our physical health? to our mental state? to our emotional state? Do we have a thriving spiritual practice to keep us connected with Life? Do we LISTEN to our intuition when it prods us to slow down, take it easy, read a book, or whatever it is that we need?

For me, my body tends to be what takes a back burner when I have a lot of activity in my life, until it says, Enough! Pay Attention to ME! I knew that if I didn’t pay attention today, I could be inhibiting my effectiveness tomorrow. And so I rest. And blog.

This has me pondering about all of the times when other things get in the way of letting us hear that wiser part of us that knows. We get caught up in the routines, habits, and “have tos” and “must dos” of the day. Yet there may be something tugging that we just keep pushing away, and in doing so, we may miss the opportunity of a lifetime.

Take the time today to listen to your body, to your heart, to your spirit, and move a step in the directions whispered to you. Maintain that gentle balance that rewards you with a life of ease, joy, and contentment. You deserve it.

Be the change you want to see in the world

November 5, 2008

It’s the day after the big election 2008. Obama is the president-elect, and there is much joy to be had. Obama symbolizes change to the American people.

Change is important. Without change, we don’t grow. We stagnate. If we open to change, however, we can open to letting new energies into our lives.

Some people think that change can be “good” or “bad” and I agree that some change is uncomfortable as we let go of the familiar to bring in something new. However, I would argue that, ultimately, even uncomfortable change is beneficial, as it helps us to see exactly what we want, and it helps to break up crystalized patterns. In fact, I further assert that the more uncomfortable the change, the more crystalized the patterns.

In the past, I have been a creature of habit, and I have often gone kicking and screaming into new phases of my growth. For example, when I became aware that my next step was to move to Arizona from my beloved home in New England, I protested heavily. I couldn’t imagine leaving the lush foliage and changing seasons for a land that was arid and dry.Sunset at Usery Park

But, even beyond my protestations, I knew deep inside that this was a necessary step in my own growth process, and I sensed that this move would herald the manifestation of my dreams. I needed to learn to see a new kind of beauty.

Lo and behold, just a few years after arriving in Arizona, I became involved in real estate investing, which has opened many doors for me. Now I am excited about all that I find behind those doors, and all of the new doors that are being presented to me. If I hadn’t taken that leap of faith, trusted in the Universe to lead me well, I wouldn’t be the owner of several properties as well as a prosperity coach.

We are now in a time when we can change much. The new government holds out hope and promises of a better future. I contend that we don’t have to wait for the government. We, ourselves, are the change. We can begin by envisioning a better life for ourselves. We can begin by living the life we have always been meant to live. We can take the steps we need to take to become our dreams. As Mahatma Ghandi once said so eloquently, we start by being the change we want to see in the world.

What energies will you let into your life?

Choices

October 28, 2008

Tonight I had the opportunity to attend three different events.

The first event was a Cash Flow Game. For those who don’t know, the Cash Flow Game was created by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter. Some people have described it as Monopoly on steroids. I describe it as a great way to learn about how we can build prosperity by taking necessary risks. The object of the game is to first get out of the rat race (Sound familiar???), and once out, to find and live your dream. I am fortunate enough to play Cash Flow every other week or so, and would invite anyone interested in playing to leave me a comment and I will give you all the details.

The second event was a workshop on Money. The woman presenting it is also a coach – we hadn’t yet met – only talked on the phone through a real estate ad I had placed in the New Visions Spiritual Growth Center’s directory. But, I suspect we have a lot in common, and I am looking forward to the time when we actually get to sit down and talk face to face.

The third event was to attend a sweat lodge sponsored by the Deer Tribe. The sweat was in honor of the new moon, as a time to set the focus and direction of the next four weeks until the next new moon. Tonight the broader focus was on the element of water, and allowing flow in one’s life.

I had to decide. I saw benefits in each one and took time to look at each one closely to make my choice. In the long run, though, it wasn’t my assessment of the known benefits that gave me my choice. It was listening to my heart, and hearing which one called me the strongest.

Can you guess which one I attended?

It was the sweat lodge, and it was an incredible experience, and absolutely the right choice for me tonight.

Synchronistically, I connected with someone who is doing a prosperity workshop on Nov 21st and 22nd. His takes the form of a puja. Again, if you want more details, let me know and I will send you information on this. He told me that the first time he did this puja, he could feel all of his limiting beliefs for prosperity just melting away and leaving his field of consciousness. Now that feels like powerful stuff!

To me, WHOLISTIC prosperity is paying attention to the stirrings of our hearts, and following through. Sometimes what seems the most logical is not necessarily what we NEED.

Tonight, in many many ways, I got what I needed.

First post

October 27, 2008

I have set this up as a place to write my thoughts and experiences as a wholistic prosperity coach.  This is something that I feel passionate about, and I have a desire to shout my passion to the world!

In these times, even though I try to avoid watching the negative news, I can’t get away from the doom and gloom about the economy. Sure, these are tough times, but what are we going to do about it? Are we going to sit around and feel sorry for ourselves?  Well, I have news for you. As a friend of mine has said, you can hold a pity party for yourself but no one will come.

We are all able to create our own destiny. Even if the universe throws us curveballs, we get to choose how to handle them, how to grow from the adversities and become stronger, better equipped living beings on this planet.

So, how will you choose to handle this adversity? What lessons await amidst the unpredictable times of chaos? What can you learn? What can you do? How can you make your own life a fuller, richer, more abundant experience?

I heard tonight that during tough financial times, people turn to gambling, hoping to win a fortune, or education, to learn how to do so.

I choose the latter. Opportunities abound.
