Be the change you want to see in the world
It’s the day after the big election 2008. Obama is the president-elect, and there is much joy to be had. Obama symbolizes change to the American people.
Change is important. Without change, we don’t grow. We stagnate. If we open to change, however, we can open to letting new energies into our lives.
Some people think that change can be “good” or “bad” and I agree that some change is uncomfortable as we let go of the familiar to bring in something new. However, I would argue that, ultimately, even uncomfortable change is beneficial, as it helps us to see exactly what we want, and it helps to break up crystalized patterns. In fact, I further assert that the more uncomfortable the change, the more crystalized the patterns.
In the past, I have been a creature of habit, and I have often gone kicking and screaming into new phases of my growth. For example, when I became aware that my next step was to move to Arizona from my beloved home in New England, I protested heavily. I couldn’t imagine leaving the lush foliage and changing seasons for a land that was arid and dry.
But, even beyond my protestations, I knew deep inside that this was a necessary step in my own growth process, and I sensed that this move would herald the manifestation of my dreams. I needed to learn to see a new kind of beauty.
Lo and behold, just a few years after arriving in Arizona, I became involved in real estate investing, which has opened many doors for me. Now I am excited about all that I find behind those doors, and all of the new doors that are being presented to me. If I hadn’t taken that leap of faith, trusted in the Universe to lead me well, I wouldn’t be the owner of several properties as well as a prosperity coach.
We are now in a time when we can change much. The new government holds out hope and promises of a better future. I contend that we don’t have to wait for the government. We, ourselves, are the change. We can begin by envisioning a better life for ourselves. We can begin by living the life we have always been meant to live. We can take the steps we need to take to become our dreams. As Mahatma Ghandi once said so eloquently, we start by being the change we want to see in the world.
What energies will you let into your life?
