My First Book!

I’ve been an avid writer since I was about 8 years old. I remember finding a notebook that I had from third grade; on every page was a story that I had written. They were third grade quality, or maybe fourth or fifth grade quality, but the point is, I was writing, even back then. When I was in high school, I chose to major in English in college because I knew I wanted to write.

But life has a way of sidetracking me. I put writing aside time and time again for this adventure or that one. I’ve done a lot, learned a lot, played hard, and journaled a lot. I have about 15 archive boxes full of old journals. I’m not sure why I keep them. I have this fantasy that when I decide to give up this mortal shroud, someone will discover them and publish them.

I have started several books. I even finished first drafts of at least two. But I haven’t yet published anything. That is, until yesterday. Yesterday, I finally published New Story, New Life on the Lulu site, so people could order it for the holidays if they choose. I know this is only the first of many books I plan to write, and I already have a couple of others in the works. Sometimes it’s just a matter of taking that first leap. And now I’ve taken it.
